Nummular eczema Nummular eczema is a type of skin allergy which causes dark spots and red patches on the skin. The exact cause of nummular eczema is unknown but having chronic disease like asthma and allergic reaction increases the risk of getting eczema. People who have history of atopic dermatitis are also prone to get nummular eczema. Generally it attacks only old people of age group 60-80. Coin like lesions on the skin, in particular on arms and legs are the signs of nummular eczema. It may originate from the middle of the body and spread to lower parts. There may or may not be itching sensation but the skin become red and scaly. Red colored patches are seen on the affected area.

Treatment for nummular eczema is easy and simple. You should avoid working in stressful environment. Do not expose your body to hot rays of the sun. Avoid wearing wool and lenin clothing in summer which would add more heat to the body. Excess of bath soap usage can also trigger the formation of dry skin, making you vulnerable to eczema. Do not take the foods that are allergic. You can buy over the counter topical creams for treating nummular eczema and in severe case, doctors will give you corticosteroids.
