Weight Chart For Height
As we get older, it is harder to achieve or maintain our weight because the older we get the slower our metabolism is, therefore slowing down our calorie burning. As we become older, our activities are not what they once were. To some people if they are not underweight, or obese they think they are healthy. This is not true. You need to determine what your ideal weight should be according to your age and height.
Ideal weight charts or tables have been created over the years to determine if you are overweight, underweight, obese, or morbidly obese. There is a bit of calculating that goes with some of these charts. Body Mass Index (BMI) plays a role in some of these charts as well. To determine what your BMI is you need to first take your height (in inches) and multiply it by itself, then divide the previous number by your weight and multiply that answer by 703, the result is your BMI.
These charts help you to determine if you are at a health risk because of your weight. In the 40's and 50's there was research conducted that shows there is a connection between age, weight, and gender in relationship to health risk. Of course, these studies have improved over the years and because of these improved studies, ideal weight tables are available for men and women. These tables or charts are able to determine if you are predisposed to serious health risks. These tables do not automatically mean that you are at a health risk if you are not in the normal range, your body type, and frame need to be taken into consideration along with these charts. The ranges on these charts are set to reduce the risk of health issues in the future.
The Body Mass Index is an indicator that measures your body fat and your BMI along with the height weight charts will better enable you to determine where you fall in the categories. If you find that you are in the overweight or obese range there are things you can do to help you regain your perfect weight for your height. No matter what your age when you keep to a strict diet and exercise regimen you will lose weight more easily and maintain it.
As we get older, we find that the body muscles start to shrink and visceral fat accumulates around our organs. These weight height age charts cannot and do not measure visceral fat. If you find that, you are tired, feel unhealthy, and have a slow metabolism you may want to consider a weight loss program no matter how old you are.
