Weight Height Chart
Weight height chart came into being in year 1943. The life insurance company named The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company first introduced the weight height chart and it is still in use though some slight changes have been made since then. According to the weight height chart, the ideal weight for an age group is the weight that contributes to the longest life span for that age group. The Insurance Company introduced the chart as a method to give insurances without loss. Nevertheless, the chart has been helping health sectors to determine the health conditions of people to a great extent ever since.
When you weigh in the ideal weight range for your age, you may free of diseases hence you can live longer than others who are overweight for their age. For example, the ideal weight for a woman whose height is 5.6" is 130-144 pounds. When compared with other women, this woman has no diseases and gives ample reason to decide that the ideal weight for a 5.6" woman is 130-144 pounds. Likewise every other age group has ideal weights that have been proved with people who have fewer diseases and health complication than others.
The height weight charts, if they are not so indicated specifically, are not suitable for measuring the ideal weight for children but only for people who are within 25-59 age groups. It is not suitable to measure very tall people and cannot give accurate results with changes of age. Though these are some erroneous instances in weight height charts, they are the best ways to determine ideal weight for an age group. It is determined that the Body Mass Index is better than the weight height chart to measure health risks.
