Peptic Ulcer Symptoms:
The following are the common signs of peptic ulcer:
- The presence of abdominal pain. The severity of the pain reaches a climax especially around mealtimes. In some cases, the pain recurs after around 3 hours of taking a meal.
- A person with peptic ulcer feels a permanent bloating and abdominal fullness.
- A frequent episode of waterbrash. This is a situation wherein the body produces a lot of saliva after regurgitation as a reaction to dilute the acid in the esophagus.
- There is nausea and frequent vomiting.
- There is a loss of appetite and weight loss.
- There may be the possibility of vomiting blood. This happens when the condition is far too severe, and the bleeding is due to continuous bleeding in the stomach lining or in the esophagus from severe and continuous vomiting.
- Although rare, a peptic ulcer may cause perforation of the duodenum. When this happens, surgery is immediately needed because it signifies the severity of the ailment.
- The feces of a person with peptic ulcer are extremely foul smelling. This foul smell is due to the oxidized iron from hemoglobin.
- In some cases, a person with peptic ulcer also experiences heartburn, but this is rather rare.
