Information On Amino Acids

Information On Amino Acids
Amino acids are the molecular units that make up proteins. All
proteins are various compositions of twenty specific naturally
occurring amino acids.

Protein is required for the growth and development of all animals
including human beings. Body proteins serve many functions, they
include structural components of cells and tissues, enzyme catalysts of
biochemical reactions, hormone messengers, and components of the immune
system.

Proteins are hydrolyzed by digestive enzymes to peptides and amino
acids which are absorbed and transported by the blood to various body
tissues. Tissue proteins are continually being broken down and
resynthesized, ingested amino acids being incorporated and those
already present being eliminated. Certain amino acids necessary for
growth and maintenance must be included in the diet, but others can be
synthesized from non-protein precursors.

  • Alanine

Alanine is synthesized in your muscle tissue from branched chain
amino acids. It helps regulate your blood sugar levels and chronic
deficiencies may lead to muscle loss and poor glucose tolerance.
Alanine is the major amino acid utilized by the liver for
    gluconeogenesis under normal conditions.

  • Arginine

This amino acid is necessary for the normal functioning of the
pituitary gland. Together with ornithine, phenylalanine, and other
neuro chemicals, arginine is required for the synthesis and release of
    the pituitary gland's growth hormone.

The need for arginine is especially important for males, since seminal fluids contain much of this amino acid.

  • Aspartic acid

Aspartic acid helps in the expulsion of harmful ammonia from the
body. When ammonia enters the circulatory system it acts as a highly
toxic substance. By disposing of ammonia, aspartic acid helps protect
    the central nervous system.

  • Cysteine and Cystine

Cystine is the stable form of the sulfur-containing amino acid
cysteine. The body readily converts one into the other as needed, and
the two forms can be considered as a single amino acid in metabolism.
When cystine is metabolized it yields sulfuric acid which acts with
other substances to help detoxify the system.

  • Glutamic acid and Glutamine

    Glutamic acid is primarily
used by the brain. It has the ability to pick up excess ammonia, which
inhibits brain functioning, and convert it into glutamine. Since
glutamine produces an elevation of glutamic acid, a shortage in the
diet can result in a shortage of glutamic acid in the brain.

Glutamine has also been shown to help in the control of alcoholism,
shorten the healing time of ulcers and alleviate fatigue, depression,
and impotence. It has also been used successfully in the treatment of
    schizophrenia and senility.

  • Glycine

Glycine has been found to be helpful in the treatment of low
pituitary gland function and, because it supplies the body with
additional creatine, it has also been found effective in the treatment
    of progressive muscular dystrophy.

It is also used for the treatment of hypoglycemia. Glycine
stimulates the release of glucagon, which mobilizes glycogen, which is
then released into the blood as glucose.

  • Lysine

This essential amino acid is vital in the makeup of critical body
proteins. It's needed for growth, tissue repair, and the production of
    antibodies, hormones, and enzymes.

It promotes better concentration and properly utilizes fatty acids needed for energy production.

  • Methionine

Methionine helps in some cases of schizophrenia by lowering the
blood level of histamine, which can cause the brain to relay wrong
messages. It also helps remove toxic wastes from your liver, assists in
the regeneration of liver and kidney tissue, infuences hair follicle
health, and can be an effective antistress factor.

A deficiency of methionine can inhibit the body's ability to process
urine and result in edema and susceptibility to infection. A methionine
deficiency has also been linked to cholesterol deposits,
atherosclerosis, and hair loss in laboratory animals.

  • Phenylalanine

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid that is a neuro-transmitter
(a chemical that transmits signals between the nerve cells and the
    brain).

  • DL-Phenylalanine (DLPA)

This form of the essential amino acid phenylalanine is a mixture of
equal parts of D (synthetic) and L (natural) phenylalanine. By
producing and activating endorphins it intensifies and prolongs the
body's own natural pain-killing response to injury and disease.

Certain enzyme systems continually destroy endorphins, but
DL-phenylalanine effectively inhibits these enzymes, allowing the
    pain-killing endorphins to work.

People who suffer from chronic pain have lower levels of endorphin
activity in their blood and cerebro-spinal fluid. Since DLPA can
restore normal endorphin levels, it can assist the body in reducing
pain naturally. It is effective as a natural pain-killer for conditions
such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lower back pain,
migraines, leg and muscle cramps, postoperative pain, and neuralgia.

  • Threonine

Excessive use of threonine can cause the formation of too much urea
and consequently ammonia toxicity in your body. To be used effectively,
threonine requires vitamin B6, magnesium, and niacin. Both serine and
glycine can be synthesized from this amino acid.

  • Tryptophan

Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that's used by the brain along
with vitamin B6, niacin, and magnesium to produce serotin, a
neurotransmitter that carries messages between the brain and one of the
body's biochemical mechanisms of sleep. It acts as an antidepressant
    reducing anxiety and tension.

  • Tyrosine

Tyrosine is a neuro-transmitter and is important because of its role
in stimulating and modifying brain activity. For instance, in order for
phenylalanine to be effective as a mood elevator and appetite
depressant, it must first be converted into tyrosine.

Clinical studies have shown that tyrosine supplementation has helped
control medication-resistant depression and anxiety, as well as enable
patients taking amphetamines (as mood elevators or diet drugs) to
reduce their dosages to minimal levels in a matter of weeks.

Known Hazards: An excess of protein can also cause the
formation of toxic substances and become a burden to our digestive
system. There has been much research done showing the negative and
dangerous results of diets with too high a protein content. It has been
deemed prudent to maintain an upper bound of no more than twice the RDA
for protein.

Alpha Lipoic Acid Supplement

Alpha Lipoic Acid Supplement
The other names for alpha lipoic acid are thiotic acid, lipoic acid and ALA. All these names refer to a fatty acid that naturally exists in every cell that is inside the human body. The work of this acid is to convert blood sugar into readily available sugar for various metabolic processes within the body. Today, people have realized that this acid can be used as a nutritional supplement.

The fact that alpha lipoic acid can be used as an antioxidant makes it an ideal component of everyone's diet. We all need antioxidants in our bodies although few diets can provide this. An antioxidant is a substance that can neutralize free radicals, which are the harmful chemicals that often find their way into our bodies.

The main reason why this acid is unique is the fact that it can work even in water, unlike other commonly occurring antioxidants such as vitamin C. In fact, this antioxidant can recycle vitamin C. Alpha lipoic acid also facilitates the synthesis of glutathione; an antioxidant that efficiently rids the body of harmful substances.

Alpha lipoic acid can be found in very small quantities in peas, broccoli and spinach. It can also be found in rice bran, Brussel sprouts and Brewer's yeast. In most cases, supplements that contain this acid occur in drug stores in the form of capsules. If you want maximum absorption to take place, you should swallow them on an empty stomach.

Peripheral neuropathy treatment seems like the main reason why more and more people want to use these supplements that contain alpha lipoic acid. The main causes of peripheral neuropathy include injury, chemotherapy, nutritional deficiencies and alcoholism. The main symptoms include burning sensations, pain, weakness, tingling, and persistent.

Alpha lipoic acid can also work perfectly in fatty tissue as well as in water. It can therefore get into any part of a nerve cell, thus protecting it from any form of damage.

Alpha lipoic acid supplements are also believed to contribute to improved brain function. Their ability to cross the brain-blood barrier makes it possible for them to protect bran cells from being damaged by free radicals. The barrier that separates the brain and the blood circulation system consists of very many vessels and cells. These cells are impermeable to any other types of antioxidants except Alpha lipoic acid.

Through neutralization of free radicals alpha lipoic acid prevents damage to body cells, thus reducing chances of chronic illness and aging.

Allergy Research Supplements

Allergy Research Supplements
Allergy Research Group is a pharmaceutical company or manufacturer of supplements. This company started its operations in 1979 and was headed by Dr.Stephen Levine who was a professional from the biochemistry field. Having a PhD in Biochemistry, he was quite equipped with the required expertise and also was aware of the numerous challenges in the health sector.

He has published detailed information on antioxidant chemicals in his extremely valuable book named as Antioxidant Adaptation. Dr.Parris Kidd was a co-author along with Dr.Levine in the creation of this book.

Dr.Stephen Levine has been credited with the path breaking production of allergy supplements. Dr.Stephen Levine and his company, the Allergy research Group have since then introduced a number of allergy supplements in the market. The Allergy research Group was the first to introduce the Buffered variety of Vitamin C. This company has devoted itself, solely to the production of food supplements, hypo allergens and anti oxidants etc.

The Allergic patients are those that have an accelerated immune response to certain things or substances, which they come in contact with. Such substances or materials which excite an Allergic reaction are called as Allergens.

Allergic immune response patients cannot tolerate even a minute amount of the allergen, and any such encounter results in an immediate Allergic reaction, which may vary in severity from a moderate episode to even sudden death.

It is very difficult to deal with such patients, because they can even react to seemingly harmless materials like wheat, milk, soy, egg etc. One of the methods to tackle such acute episodes is to advise complete abstinence from the known Allergens.

But there are certain patients who are not yet aware of the exact nature of their Allergen. This may be due to the fact that they might have been exposed to a variety of things at the same time, so it becomes quite confusing.

For example, a person has chocolate milk shake peanut butter and egg altogether in his meal. When this particular individual comes down with an Allergic episode, it becomes quite difficult to pin point the exact Allergen out of the three items mentioned.

Whatever is the Allergen, but the basic underlying defect in all the Allergic response patients is the fact that there is a problem in the immunological system. In addition to abstinence from the confirmed allergens, such patients can be prescribed allergic supplements. These supplements would help in supporting the weak immunological system and prolonged use may help in warding off some of the allergic attacks in future.

Allergy Research Group Supplements

Allergy Research Group Supplements
This is indeed correctly said that Health is wealth and a good mind resides in a good body. Without a good health, an individual cannot perform in any other area of interest in his life. The system that keeps us healthy and guards our body from various infectious viruses is called the immune system of our body. This is an automated mechanism created to make our bodies able to fight the foreign disease causing elements. But sometimes, many individuals face problems with their immune system where the resistive power of fighting back with a disease causing bacteria or virus becomes low and it has an adverse effect on the overall health of the individual.

The allergy research group supplements are one and the only kind of the company that deals with making the best quality of supplements available to the people. Many times, people have various kinds of allergies. But with the use of allergy research group supplements, these allergies can be a thing of past.

The allergy research group supplements are a result of extensive research in the field of medical science by the well known and great scientists and researchers. After examining millions of vitamins, minerals and other vital things that are needed to carry on the metabolic activities of the body and to keep it fast and working; allergy research group supplements came out with various solutions to the deficiency of these in day to day diet. It is indeed ironical that people tend to develop allergies with the things that they are most attached with. For example, a person could develop and allergy from animal fur. In that case, he/she would not be able to touch his/her pet dog. It often can make life unbearable.

But the allergy research group supplements, takes a real life and different approach in solving the allergy related issues of the individuals. Their main motive is to identify the substance or thing that is behind all the causes of allergy and then, to treat it accordingly. The allergy research group supplements checks the patients against all the available symptoms of allergies and if any of the pattern matches the previous ones, allergy research group supplements takes the remedial therapies accordingly. You can contact the allergy research group supplements in your local society areas. They have representatives and locatives all around the world and also provide free trial of their products.

What Is Lactobacillus Acidophilus?

What Is Lactobacillus Acidophilus?
There are an estimated several trillion friendly bacteria
comprising over 400 species in the average human gastrointestinal
tract. By body weight, each of us carries around nearly four pounds of
intestinal microflora.

While Lactobacillus Acidophilus is probably the most well known of
these, others you should know about include Bifidobacterium bifidum and
B. longum. When the intestines are healthy, there are more friendly
bacteria than nfriendly, or pathogenic ones; you might think of this
arrangement as a kind of microbial ecology in which species have their
allotted role and population density in the intestinal environment.

Lactobacillus Acidophilus is the predominant friendly bacteria in
the upper intestinal tract. Lactobacillus is the general (genus) name
of the bacteria, Acidophilus is the particular strain. It helps reduce
the levels of harmful bacteria and yeasts in the small intestine and
also produces lactase, an enzyme which is important in the digestion of
milk. L. Acidophilus is also involved in the production of B vitamins
(niacin, folic acid, and pyridoxine) during the digestive process.

Not only can Acidophilus and other probiotics tune up your
intestinal function, counteract antibiotic damage, and stimulate the
immune system to function better when you?re relatively well, but when
you?re ill, they can also contribute significantly to relief of health
problems ranging from indigestion and diarrhea to colon and liver
cancer.

Acidophilus, used in milk in grocery stores and also sold in
concentrated form as a health-food product, consists of billions of
live, beneficial bacteria, taken to change the flora of the digestive
system and help crowd out harmful organisms. Most physicians do not
take acidophilus very seriously, but regard it as a health food and do
not mention it to their patients; you will probably not hear about it
from your doctor. But some physicians do recommend it for their AIDS
patients, and recently we have been hearing of a number of persons who
are convinced that it has helped them in controlling diarrhea and/or
candida (thrush) in the digestive tract.

"We (AIDS.ORG)

don't know of any scientific studies which would prove or disprove
these uses; but acidophilus is readily available, inexpensive, easy to
use, and evidently helpful to some. It appears to be entirely harmless,
but patients should check with their physicians to make sure there are
no reasons to avoid trying it."

The characteristics required of lactobacilli as probioties are the following:

  • Beneficial function

  • Easy cultivation

  • Nonpathogenicity

  • Adhesion and

  • Population stability.

Several studies have assessed the potential of lactobacilli in the
prevention or treatment of certain genitourinary tract infections such
as bacterial vaginosis, vaginitis, or urinary tract infections. The
main goal of therapy with biotherapeutic agents should be to prevent
overgrowth of a pathogen until such a time that the normal microbiota
can be reestablished. The possibility of using lactobacilli is
promising, especially in pregnant women and in the case of patients
with recurrent genitourinary tract infections produced by strains with
resistance to several antibiotics. In addition, probiotic therapy is
considered as "natural" and without side effects in contrast with
conventional pharmaceutical treatments, but there is a limited array of
tested biotherapeutic agents and a lack of pharmacokinetic data.

The authors have tested the therapeutic efficacy of a multibacterial
combination consisting of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium
bifidum in elderly patients with bowel disorders. Bacteriological and
histopathologic investigation showed this combination to yield
excellent biologic results with restoration of duodenal bacterial flora
and subsidence of clinical symptoms. The function of the muciparous
glands was restored and the duodenal mucosa was normalized.
