Fast Beating Heart Than Normal

When your heart beats faster than normal the condition is called tachycardia in medical language.

The normal heart rate is 50 to 100 beats per minute. Anything above 100 beats per minute is called tachycardia.

Heart rate can increase in regular daily work and returns to normal after some time e.g. while performing exercise, emotional or sexual excitement in normal persons.

Palpitation is heartbeat felt by a person due to anxiety, stress, and medications or due to heart condition.

Causes of Heart Beating Faster

  • Infection
  • Fever
  • Low blood pressure
  • Diarrhea and dehydration
  • Thyrotoxicosis
  • Anemia
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Alcohol intoxication, tea, coffee in excess, cola drinks.

Symptoms of Fast Beating Heart

  • Sometime there may be no symptoms even if the heart beats faster or occasionally palpitation can be felt.
  • Heavy sensation on your chest, or flutter in your chest.
  • Weakness and tiredness when anemia is present.
