11 Ways to Use Food for Beauty & Cleaning Products 
What products do you use in your bathroom?
My favorite bath and beauty items are the ones I make from food!
You won’t find any typical products in my bathroom, like toothpaste tubes, harsh cleaning products, toxic toilet cleaners, or even a bottle of shampoo! When you open my bathroom cabinet, you wouldn’t know if you were standing in the kitchen or the bathroom!
A few days ago, I shared this great meme on my facebook page that said:
“You know you are a natural mom when:
You have kitchen items in the bathroom and beauty products in the fridge”
Even though I’m not a mom yet, I’m very into everything natural and this couldn’t describe it any better!
Then I started thinking, what kitchen items do I use in my bathroom?
These are my must haves that you would find me using:
I am obsessed with coconut oil! I always have a jar in my kitchen and one in my bathroom. I prefer using organic raw unrefined coconut oil like this for optimal benefits.
What to use it for?
I keep 2 boxes, well more like 5, in my house scattered in different rooms because I use it so often. Between baking soda and coconut oil, I pretty much have all I need to make an natural alternative to all products!
What to use it for?
I use organic raw honey to get the most benefits.
What to use it for?
I use Celtic sea salt.

They’re not just for keeping vampires away or adding flavor to hamburgers.

Not only do I keep food from the kitchen in my bathroom, but I also store Beauty products in the fridge! Don’t worry they’re edible and can be safely stored next to my fresh produce. This helps extend the life of any do it yourself recipes, especially when making them in larger batches.
Makeup- I usually store my homemade makeup in my fridge to help extend the life.

1. Coconut Oil
I am obsessed with coconut oil! I always have a jar in my kitchen and one in my bathroom. I prefer using organic raw unrefined coconut oil like this for optimal benefits.
What to use it for?
- Oil Pulling- Take a tablespoon of coconut oil and swish it back and forth in your mouth for about 10 minutes, then spit out.
- Toothpaste- Coconut oil is antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal. Mix with baking soda.
- Face and Body Moisturizer- Apply to skin for a natural moisturizer.
- To Wash Your Face- (the Oil Cleansing Method)
- Whiten teeth- Oil pulling has been said to aid in whitening teeth.

- Hair Conditioner- Apply to hair and massage well.
- Dry/Chapped Lips- Apply to lips, reapply as needed.
- Dandruff- Apply to scalp, massage well, do at least once a week.

2. Baking Soda
I keep 2 boxes, well more like 5, in my house scattered in different rooms because I use it so often. Between baking soda and coconut oil, I pretty much have all I need to make an natural alternative to all products!
What to use it for?
- Toothpaste- Use it by itself or add to coconut oil.
- Whiten Teeth- Brush teeth with a small amount of baking soda.
- Clean Bathroom (sink, counter, bath, floors, toilet)- Make a paste with water or vinegar to clean all areas in bathroom.
- Exfoliator- Make a paste of baking soda and water and massage skin with mixture.
- Treat Acne- Make a baking soda face mask.

- Mosquito Bites- Make a paste of water and baking soda to soothe itching.
- Air Freshener- All you need is baking soda, water, and essential oil.
3. Honey
I use organic raw honey to get the most benefits.
What to use it for?
- Acne- Apply a small amount to skin for 15 to 30 minutes, then wash off.
- Shampoo- Make a honey shampoo.
- Moisturizer- Apply to skin daily for 15 minutes to reduce dryness.
- Wash Face- Use a small amount of honey to wash face.
- Cuts or Burns- Apply topically to reduce irritation and promote healing.
- Face Mask- Mix with yogurt to make a acne-fighting face mask.
4. Salt
I use Celtic sea salt.
What to use it for?
- Face Scrub/Exfoliator- Use a combination of lemon and salt to create an exfoliating scrub.
- Body/Feet Exfolilator- Make a salt scrub to remove dead skin.
- Reduce Itchy skin –Add to bath, saltwater is good for helping itchy skin.
- Toothpaste- Add to homemade toothpaste mixture of coconut oil and baking soda.
5. White Vinegar
What to use it for?
- Cleaning- Use a combination of baking soda and vinegar to clean your bathroom, everything from your tub to the sink.
- Unclog Drain- Put a few tablespoons of baking soda down the drain, add vinegar.

What to use it for?
- Cleaning- Scrub down your bathroom with lemons to disinfect and remove soap scum. Your tub will be sparkling like new!
- Acne Treatment- Antibacterial properties helps fight acne. Apply lemon juice to skin.
- Fade Skin Marks- Lemon juice helps fade acne and dark skin marks.
- Exfoliator- Add to salt for a facial scrub.
- Lighten Hair- Apply to hair to naturally lighten your color.
- Deodorant- Rub half a lemon under your arms to act as a natural deodorant.
7. Apple Cider Vinegar
Make sure to use raw organic unfiltered with the mother.
What to use it for?
- Facial Toner- Apply to skin to act as a facial toner.
- Acne Treatment- Apply to face to treat and prevent acne.
- Warts- Apply topically to remove warts.
- Foot Fungus- Anti-fungal properties, make a foot bath with added apple cider vinegar.
- Whiten Teeth- Dip toothbrush in apple cider vinegar.
- Hair Conditioner- Pour 1/4 cup on hair to prevent frizz and promote shine.
8. Avocado
What to use it for?
- Hair Conditioner- Make a deep conditioning hair mask.
- Facial Moisturizer and Redness Reducer- Apply to face for a soothing and moisturizing facial.
9. Garlic and Onions
They’re not just for keeping vampires away or adding flavor to hamburgers.
What to use if for?
- Hair Growth and Reversing Grey Hair- Apply Onion juice to hair topically.
- Acne Treatment- Apply onion juice or garlic juice to breakouts to help them heal faster.
10. Cornstarch/ Arrowroot Powder
What to use it for?
- Reduce Redness- Apply to skin to reduce redness and any irritation.
- Rashes- Apply topically to prevent irritation, itchiness, and redness.
- Acne- Apply to breakouts or areas of irritation to reduce redness and inflammation.
11. Eggs
What to use it for?
- Hair Moisturizer- Apply to hair as a natural conditioner.
- Egg White Facial- Separate the egg yolk from the egg white, and apply the egg white to face, leave on for 30 minutes.
