Cure Acne in Just a Few Days: How I Finally Cured My Acne

Cure Acne in Just a Few Days: How I Finally Cured My Acne cure acne with cod liver oil“I found the cure for acne”! That’s what I couldn’t stop telling everyone in my family just after 3 days of using cod liver oil.  It worked for me and maybe it will work for you!

I’ve been trying to find something that would cure acne for over 10 years, struggling with it ever since middle school. I tried everything from lemon juice to chemical over the counter treatments. Some natural treatments helped; such as baking soda and apple cider vinegar, but they didn’t completely eliminate my acne.  They are great for reducing breakouts, but they don’t cure acne, probably because more should be done than just treating it topically, it should be also treated internally.  That’s why I believe the cod liver oil works, because the nutrients are better absorbed in this form.

The reason I started taking cod liver oil was because I’ve been recently trying to implement more of the recommendations from the Weston A Price Foundation. They share recommendations based on the research and teachings of Dr. Price, a Cleveland dentist who found that nutritional deficiencies caused tooth decay, crooked teeth, etc. One of their primary recommendations is that everyone should be taking cod liver oil. Cod liver oil provides essential nutrients, particularly high amounts of vitamin D and vitamin A, which our bodies need.

Although I was already taking vitamin D and a high dose of vitamin A, I had doubts about whether I was absorbing it properly, that’s why I wanted to try cod liver oil.

A few weeks ago I ordered fermented cod liver oil online and was excited to try it! Especially since I researched it and  found that many people have had success with using it for acne.

After 3 days of using the cod liver oil, I noticed amazing results! I am so relieved to finally have found a way to cure acne. Not only did it help my acne, but I noticed that the keratosis on the back of my arms was completely gone! After seeing my acne clear up in just a few days, I tried to convince my younger brother to give it a try. He was reluctant at first because he doesn’t like to try anything new, but after he saw how it helped me, he said he would give it a try.

Here’s my before and after picture. The before was taken with no makeup about 3 months ago and the after, just last week.

About Cod Liver Oil and How it Can Cure Acne

Cod liver oil used to be popular in my grandparent’s generation and sadly, my generation pretty much has no idea it even exists!

One reason that we all need these nutrients was stated In Dr. Price’s research. It was found that primitive diets contained 10 times the amount of fat-soluble vitamin A and D compared to the typical American diet today. This means we are lacking essential vitamins and many of us are deficient!

Cod liver oil contains not only the essential nutrients, but EPA and DHA (fatty acids).

What’s also great about cod liver oil is that not only can it improve your skin, but your overall health! In a study of children from New Zealand, Dr. Price found that those who consumed cod liver oil daily had a reduction in cavities by 42%.

But You MUST Get the Right Kind of Cod Liver Oil for it to Work!

Make sure you get fermented cod liver oil from wild caught fish.

Other cod liver oil may be from farmed fish, be heavily processed, or contain synthetic vitamins that were added back in.

This is the fermented cod liver oil that I use: see it here

It is recommended by the Weston A. Price Foundation and is considered to be the best.

I found only one company makes fermented cod liver oil (that is available in the U.S.), that brand is Green Pasture. The company has a few different options to choose from: liquid, capsules, flavored or non-flavored.

I chose the liquid form because it has a higher absorption rate.  Although Cod liver oil is known for having a…not so great taste , I figured I would tough it out and hopefully, it would help if I mixed it with some applesauce!

Fermented vs. Other Kinds of Cod Liver Oil

What about other types of cod liver oil? If you are unable to get fermented cod liver oil you can still get another kind and have good benefits.

The Weston A. Price Foundation categorizes the fermented cod liver oil ”BEST” and other brands, such as Carlson’s, are listed under the “GOOD “category.

The fermented cod liver oil is superior because it is actually considered a food and not a supplement. Also, fermented cod liver oil contains co-factors that increase the body’s uptake and usage of the vitamins A and D.

Other brands,  that are not fermented may have processed the cod liver oil causing the vitamins to decrease in potency. As a result ,they have added in synthetic vitamins A and D to increase the amount present.  However, synthetic vitamin A and true vitamin A (from a food source) are not the same, only the true vitamin A has the best absorption.

For me, I found that the synthetic vitamin A is not as effective. My naturopathic doctor gave me a high dose of synthetic vitamin A, 25,000 IU, to take daily. I took the supplement thinking this will cure acne, but there was no change in my acne, at all! Yet, when I stopped the vitamin A and started taking cod liver oil my acne was cured (within days)!

Tips to Help Improve the Taste of Cod Liver Oil

If you have trouble taking the liquid cod liver oil due to the taste, try mixing it with yogurt, honey, or applesauce.

The first time I took it, I had to hold my breath to deal with the taste. But after you get used to it, the taste is really not that bad, especially after a week or two of taking it. Now I don’t even flinch when taking it!

Also, it is not too common, but if you notice a slight tingly or burning sensation in your mouth from taking the cod liver oil straight, mix it applesauce or yogurt. The first few times I took the cod liver oil straight, I noticed a slight burning sensation in my throat. After researching this, I found out this is due to the lactic acid in the cod liver oil. By mixing it with another food, this should no longer be a problem.

How to Cure Acne with Cod Liver Oil

Now that you have the right kind of cod liver oil, the question is how much to take to cure acne?

The Weston A. Price Foundation recommends taking  1/2- 1 teaspoon of fermented cod liver oil per day for children over 12 years old and adults. (see the recommendations here for younger children, and pregnant or nursing women)

You may want to start out with a lower dose for your first time, as it quite powerful and also, it may be prudent to not take too much, just in case you find you are allergic to it.

If you are using a different type of cod liver oil, such as Carlson’s or another brand, the recommended dose may differ.

How Long Does it Take to Cure Acne – My Experience

When I started taking cod liver oil, I did not expect it to cure my acne. The reason I took it was to boost my immune system and increase my nutrients.

To my surprise, my skin noticeably improved the second day of taking it! Yes, the second day, how unbelievable is that!

By the third day, I had no new breakouts at all! Seriously! I was so surprised it could cure my acne, maybe it can cure acne for you!

Will it cure acne for everyone in just a few days? It is very possible, because by taking fermented cod liver oil, your body is getting optimum nutrients in the form of food.

Even though there are different causes of acne, this is most certainly worth a try, especially since everyone should be taking cod liver oil daily, anyways.

I would give it a trial for at least a few weeks to a month before making a complete decision of whether or not it will work for you.

I’ve been researching acne cures online for a long time and despite the lack of posts on acne and cod liver oil, I am glad that I never gave up.  I am so glad that I have found the acne cure for me that gave me such great results!  I hope that you will also benefit from fermented cod liver oil!

Have you tried cod liver oil? Did it cure acne for you? Please share your experiences with it.
