Jaundice Disease Prevention | How to Prevent and Avoid Jaundice

Jaundice Prevention Measures:
Trying to prevent jaundice means that you will need to take care of your health so that you won’t get any of the ailments that has jaundice as a symptom. Taking care of your liver is one way of preventing the discoloration of your skin to a yellowish tint. Here are some preventive measures you can try:

  • Take care of your liver. Drinking alcohol can damage your liver and can cause diseases like liver cirrhosis, pancreatitis and alcoholic hepatitis. Try to avoid drinking alcohol and if you do, keep it to a minimum or reasonable amount.

  • When going to countries or places where malaria may be present, try to get yourself vaccinated from the disease first before going. Other vaccinations you might want to take include hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccinations.

  • If you suspect that the food and the drinks that are being given to you or those that you bought from unhygienic sources might be tainted with the hepatitis virus, do not eat or drink them. Try to get your food from clean and hygienic sources only or prepare them yourself to reduce the possibility of hepatitis which can cause jaundice as well.

  • Practice safe sex or be monogamous. Since hepatitis B is transmitted through unprotected sex, you should practice caution when doing it with a new partner.
