Liquid Detox Diet

Liquid Detox Diet
Have you considered using a liquid detox diet but are not sure what they are or how they work? In this article, we will answer that question as well as others. A liquid detox diet is a type of diet that detoxifies the body by fasting. This form of detox diet is extreme as often times the primary food source during a liquid detox diet is juice only. Various types of fruit juice such as apple and pineapple, raw vegetable juice such as, cabbage and carrot and water may be consumed during a liquid detox diet.

For the best results, a liquid detox diet should be followed for a minimum of three days. The fruit and vegetable juices will nourish the body and provide antioxidants that will help to strip and flush the body of potentially harmful toxins and poisons.

During the course of a liquid detox diet, drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to help flush your system and keep your body hydrated but keep in mind you may drink as much water as desired. However, fruit and vegetable juices should be limited to no more than 64 ounces per day. Drinking the juice in small portions or sipping the juice will help it to last throughout the day. If you do not like the taste of the vegetables juices by themselves, try mixing them with the fruit juices for a sweeter taste.

While on a liquid detox diet, you may experience one or more common side effects, which include headache, diarrhea, nausea, light-headedness, bad breath, and weight loss. Keep in mind that although these side effects are normal, if they become too severe, the liquid detox diet should be discontinued and you should seek medical advice to ensure you are not dehydrated or experiencing other medical problems.

After you have completed the three-day liquid detox diet, the hard part is behind you. Now you can introduce solid foods back into your diet however, this should be a gradual process to avoid stomach upset and weight gain. Remember your body is now use to a liquid diet so be sure to thoroughly chew solid foods. This will help your body more easily digest the foods, help you to feel full more gradually, and will help prevent you from overeating.
