Maintenance tips of Silk/pattu Sarees: Silk sarees have been into rage since decade and Silk is always rich and elegant. Silk sarees are the favorite choice of Indian women especially in special occasion like marriages. Silk sarees look extremely classy and brightful. Many occasions do not take place without silk attires. It gives great pleasures and perfection to the occasion as you can wear silk sarees in any type of occasion whether formal or informal. And you can wear silk sarees in all types of weathers.
Though they are easy to wear and trendy to look but some steps are to be taken for their maintenance. You need to take proper care of them so that they retain their charm forever. This fabric cannot be washed frequently and stain removal is not that much easy. Here are some maintenance tips of silk sarees.
Silk/pattu sarees maintenance tips:
1) Avoid washing the sarees as much as possible and even dry cleaning also cannot maintain the quality of the saree.
2) Store the sarees away from sunlight and heat.
3) When you buy a silk saree do not store the saree in plastic bag for more than 3 days as the plastic traps moisture and this can cause yellowing and ultimately damages the saree.
4) Always wrap the saree in muslin or soft cotton cloth.
5) If the saree requires washing, wash it with mild soap and rinse with cold water. We can use reetha or shikakai for washing silks. Wash the border,pallu and maintain body separately.
6) To remove lip stick stains,oil and cosmetic stains on the silk saree apply some talcum powder on it as it absorbs the stains and wipe the area with cotton towel.
7) Never place the naphthelin balls directly on the shelf or on the saree as they damage the saree while evaporating.
8) Some silks like raw silk, China silk, India silk, crepe de chine, dupion and jacquard are safe to be washed at home.
