Neuritis Disease Causes | Peripheral, Optic Neuritis Ailment Causes

Neuritis Causes:
There are a number of causes of neuritis, and these include bacterial and viral infections. Whether a person has optic neuritis or whether he has peripheral neuritis, there are a number of reasons that can be cited for their getting any of the two neuritis types.

  • A person may get peripheral neuritis due to certain ailments like diabetes, AIDS, metabolic problems, pernicious anemia, chronic acidosis, and even due to TB or diphtheria.

  • Most of the time, a person may get peripheral neuritis when he or she injures the nerves in the specific area where the swelling is.

This can be due to a physical blow that was dealt to that part of the body, an injury or a dislocation, fractured bones, over-extension of one’s joints, bad bruises, or even the simple act of staying in one position for a very long time.

  • A person may also get neuritis from ingesting toxic substances, from drinking too much alcohol, from engaging in an unhealthy lifestyle that consists of over indulgence and very little exercise, and from nutritional deficiencies.

  • Sometimes overwork can be the culprit behind neuritis.

  • Poisoning has also been blamed for this condition.

Alcohol, mercury, arsenic, and lead are just a few of the possible toxins that can bring about neuritis in a person.
