Nose bleeding is very common especially in children. It is also known as epistaxis, which can be treated at home. The bleeding occurs usually after nasal injuries. The blood usually comes from a blood vessel from the front part of your nose. Nose bleeding occurs by infection of the mucous membrane or when inside the nose dries or by nose picking. Nose contains many blood vessels and even if there is minor injury to the nose, bleeding occurs. Nose bleeding is not a life threatening disease. Blood drips from the nose due to many reasons. Here are some simple tips which are effective for treating nose bleeding.

Causes of nose bleeding:

1)      Nose picking

2)      Allergies

3)      Nasal tumor

4)      Nasal infection

5)      Dry nasal passage

6)      Nose injury

7)      Sinusitis

8)      Cold or flu

9)      High altitude

10)   Excessive use of cocaine

Symptoms of nose bleeding:

1)      Bleeding from nose

Home remedies for nose bleeding:

1)      Onion is a good clotting agent. Sniff an onion. The smell of onion stops nose bleeding.

2)      Take a clean piece of cloth and wrap a few ice pieces in it. Hold the ice pack on your nose for 5-10 min.

3)      Place few drops of lemon juice in your nose. This stops nose bleeding.

 

Tips:

1)      Don’t ever sleep back throwing your head back downwards.

2)      Sit upright and lean forward

3)      Pinch your nose using your thumb and index finger. Breathe through your mouth for 10 min.
