Tips To Relieve Back Pain During Pregnancy









Almost 75% of the women experience back pain during pregnancy. Back pain during pregnancy is common but still needs attention. You gain weight during pregnancy and your centre of gravity changes and stretch out and weaken your abdominal muscles. This also changes your posture and puts stain on your muscles. And also you carry extra weight which means more works for your muscles ad increases stress on your joints.












Growing uterus and hormonal changes are also the reasons behind your back pain. Hormonal changes may loosen the joints and the ligaments which attach your pelvis to your spine. This makes you feel pain while walking, standing, when lifting things and sitting for long periods.



Back pain is common in many of the women. Mostly the pain appears in the later months or can appear after the pregnancy also. The back pain which occurs after pregnancy can be resolved in few months.



Tips to relieve back pain during pregnancy:



1)      Lift Things Properly: Do not lift heavy loads or heavy objects. While lifting small things do not bend at the waist or lift with your back. You just squat down and stand up on your legs.



2)      Massage: To get relief from back pain you can also try heat or cold massage. You can just apply a heating pad or else you can also try ice packs. Both works well for back pain relief.



3)      Physical Activity: Take suggestion from your doctor and try little gentle activities like walking or swimming. Regular physical activity can keep your back strong and can relieve your back pain during pregnancy.



4)      Improve Posture: Improve you posture while working, sitting or sleeping. While sleeping on your side, keeping a pillow between the knees will take off the stress on your back. Some of the women wear a support belt although researchers have not proven completely that it relieves back pain. While sitting at desk, place a rolled up towel or cushion behind your back for support and rest you feet on a stool and sit up straight.



5)       Consult Doctor: If you experience severe pain and rhythmic cramping pains, you have to seek advice from doctor. In some rare cases, back pain may lead to vertebral osteoarthritis, osteoporosis or septic. So if you experience severe back pain it is advised to consult a doctor.



Tips:


1)      Don’t wear high heeled shoes.


2)      Don’t sleep on your back.


3)      Do not pick up anything by bending.


4)      Wear support hose.
