Useful Information On Bloating - Water Retention

Useful Information On Bloating - Water Retention
Water retention is caused by a malfunctioning of the kidneys.
In most cases it is not a signal that you have kidney problems -
although if you are over 45 and find yourself suddenly suffering with
bloating and swelling, especially of the ankles, then it would be a
good idea to see your GP and ask for a general check. Water retention
can be a sign of renal hypertension, high blood pressure or heart
problems so a GP check would eliminate worries.

Diuretics are used to treat virtually any disorder in which there is an excessive build-up of fluid in the body (Edema.html">edema).
These include disorders of the heart (such as heart failure), liver,
and kidneys. Some weak diuretics are used to decrease excessive fluid
pressure within the eyeball (Glaucoma.html">glaucoma).
Diuretics are used to treat certain lung disorders in which fluid
accumulates in the lung tissue (pulmonary edema). They may also be used
to decrease high blood pressure (hypertension) and to treat overdosage of certain drugs.
