Losing Weight Recipes
Just because you are on a diet and trying to lose weight does not mean that you cannot have good food too. Here are a few low fat recipes that are healthy, filling, low in calories, and easy to make.



Spicy Vegetable and Mince Curry



Ingredients



* 2 tbsp. canola oil



* 1 tsp. ground cumin



* 1 tsp. ground coriander



* 1 tsp crushed chilli



* 1/2 tsp. turmeric



* 2 tbsp. lemon juice



* 700 g. lean minced beef



* 600 g. diced butternut



* 500 g. carrots, thickly sliced



* 600 g. potatoes, diced



* 500 g. sweet potatoes, diced



* Salt



Steps



* Heat the oil in a large pot. Fry cumin and coriander for about 1 minute, stirring continuously.



* Add turmeric, chilli and lemon juice and mix well. Add minced meat and allow roasting briefly.



* Add vegetables, mix well, cover and roast for approx. 20 to 30 minutes or until the vegetables are soft. Keep stirring frequently to prevent burning.



* Season with salt and serve.



Vegetable Soup



Ingredients



* 1 small marrow, diced



* 1 tomato, cubed



* 1/2 stick celery, sliced



* 1/2 onion, chopped



* 1/8 cabbage



* 1 bay leaf



* 1 1/4 litre vegetable stock



* Oregano



* Salt



* Freshly ground black pepper



Steps



* Bring vegetable stock to full boil; add vegetables, bay leaf, and cook for approx 10 to 15 minutes or until the vegetables are soft.



* Season with oregano, salt, and pepper



* Serve with whole grain bread.



Now for a delicious dessert:



Low Calorie Mousse Pie



Ingredients



* 2 packages fat-free sugar-free chocolate pudding mix



* 2 cups of fat-free milk



* 1 tub sugar-free whipped topping



* 1 low-fat sugar-free graham cracker crust



Steps



* Whip the 2 packages of chocolate pudding with the 2 cups fat-free milk until start to stiffen.



* Fold in the whipped topping, one spoon-full at a time. Reserve approx. one third of the tub of whipped topping.



* Place the pudding mixture into the graham cracker crust. Spread evenly over crust so the entire crust is full with the mixture.



* Spread the remaining whipped topping on the top of the pie. Refrigerate for at least one hour so the pie has time to set. Cut and serve.
