Neck And Back Pain

Neck And Back Pain
Experiencing neck and back pain is something millions of people have in common. It is a predictable condition when you consider that your upper back and neck areas are made up of a complex system of interchangeable joints. People experience pain caused by a variety of conditions, including pulled muscles, disc problems, and arthritis, to name a few. The most common neck and back pain causes are trauma and muscle imbalances.

At the root of neck and back pain are posture related conditions. These problems cause an improper alignment of your head and shoulders, creating abnormal wear and tear on the joints. The symptoms are usually developed over a period of time, so the pain comes on so gradually as to not be able to pinpoint. People with neck and back pain complain of sharp and throbbing pain, weakness in the arms, plus irritation with even the smallest movement of their upper body.

To combat these conditions, physicians treat neck and back pain with a variety of drugs. Cortisone injections can provide immediate relief. So too can muscle relaxants and non steroid drugs called nsaid’s. While these drugs are helpful, there are other options that can assist in helping to get you back to full strength. Chiropractic care can be quite helpful, as can physical therapy. Included in therapies for neck and back pain are an assortment of treatments, including traction, therapy related exercises, electrical stimulation or ultrasound, hot packs, and spinal based mobilizers.

Should these treatments fail to help the condition related to neck and back pain, it is usually because these traditional treatments do not target the cause of the condition, but rather the treatment is focused on the symptoms. The theory is if you treat the symptoms, when the symptoms leave, everything is fine. Unfortunately, treating neck and back pain this way misses the fundamental cause of the condition. Since it is a physical problem, the most logical approach should be a physical solution. Relying on pills alone can make a patient feel better, but the pain will return if the solution is not based on the cause.

Good posture can deter neck and back pain from occurring. But if posture becomes out of balance, your nerves and joints will continue to suffer until the overall balance of your boy is addressed.
