Shooting Pain In Leg
Continuous sitting in a single position often results in an unusual sensation which is quite similar to some burning or tingling impression. Such a shooting pain in leg generally results during long sitting hours where one can’t move their legs and therefore the normal blood flow in the leg is reduced. This pain is temporary and doesn’t last long but there are other reasons as well for sharp and shooting pain in leg. The common among these are Sciatica, Crohn’s disease, Fibromyalgia and in some cases Pregnancy.



Sciatica is a condition where sciatic nerve that originates from lower portion of back and run down to feet is compressed or swollen due to ‘slipped disc’. This leads to intense pain in leg. Another reason for shooting pain in leg is attributed to a digestive tract disease known as Crohn’s disease. In this case the intestine lining is swollen and subsequently results in pain spreads over from abdomen and reaches legs. Fibromyalgia is a condition of shooting pain in leg calf. In this case pain radiates from calf muscles, tendons and ligaments and result in chronic leg fatigue. Such a condition can last for a substantial period of time with intermittent bouts of heavy pain in leg. Shooting pain in leg is sometimes also observed during pregnancy due to increase in weight that puts extra burden and pressure on calf muscles leading to cramps and ultimately pain. Sometimes even sciatic nerve pain also occurs during pregnancy leading to leg pain.



Once the main reason for leg pain is found out, the doctor will advise relevant treatment and therapies to get rid of such pain. These treatments can vary from stretching exercises to physiotherapy and using muscle spray and at times pain killers as well. Among the traditional methods acupuncture, massage with herbal pain relieving oils, giving heat therapy to legs are common ones.



So, whatever the reason may be for shooting pain in leg it is important to take necessary steps to get relieved from it and subsequently keep the body fit through regular exercises and yoga so that such conditions will not prevails at all.
