One can take a single vitamin or multi-vitamins, depending on the vitamin that the body is deficient in.



As we get older, our bodies require more vitamins. Likewise, women, and particularly pregnant women, do need adequate amounts of vitamins to help in the healthy growth of the unborn baby. For this reason, it is useful to take vitamin supplements, not only for pregnant women or old people, but also for everyone.



Vitamin A for instance is good for ensuring good eye sight, improvement of the immune system and healing of wounds. In pregnant mothers, this vitamin is crucial in the development of organs in a foetus. Another name for this vitamin is Retinol. On the other hand, vitamin B is helpful in combating fatigue, especially in older women. For pregnant women, Vitamin B is helpful in building of muscles. In addition, this vitamin is quite essential during the first few months of pregnancy for pregnant women.



Other essential uses of vitamins include the enhancement of immunity, which is particularly necessary for a healthy well being, keeping the skin healthy and young, reduction of tissue damage and reducing the risk of cancer. Vitamin supplements for women are important, and more so for older women, since they help strengthen the immune system, which tends to get weak with age.



Vitamin D, which is required for proper calcium absorption, is very important for women who have attained menopause. It is useful in prevention of osteoporosis. In addition, it keeps the joints healthy. Other benefits of vitamin supplements for women include reduction of the risk of heart disease and protection of the red blood cells.



Women who are I the habit of eating a balanced diet do not exhibit signs of vitamin deficiency, and do not need to take vitamin supplements. However, as we have seen above, vitamins are very critical for women, especially if one has deficiency, and therefore vitamin supplements for women are very important to ensure the well being and a healthy living for women.
