Women Weight Chart
If you are a woman, you know that your weight is something that every woman wonders and worries about. We are always trying to lose weight and we never know what the recommended weight for our body type should be, well the first thing we need to do is to determine what our Body Mass Index (BMI) is, and it is relatively simple to determine this number.
To determine what your BMI is all you need to do is take your current weight and divide it by your height (in inches) squared (multiplied by itself), then multiply it by 703 and the number you get is your BMI. Then you will want to determine where you fall on the BMI chart. Use your BMI number to determine what category you fall under with the chart that follows:
* If your BMI number is less than 16.5 you are considered severely underweight
* A BMI number between 16.5 and 18.4 says that you are underweight
* BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 you are Normal
* BMI of 25 to 30 you are Overweight
* BMI of 30.1 to 34.9 you are Obese Class I
* BMI of 35 to 40 you are Obese Class II
* BMI over 40 you Obese Class III
The BMI chart was created sometime between 1830 and 1850 to assist doctors in identifying weight problems. The BMI Chart is one of the most widely used tools used to identify weight issues and it also lets doctors know if your health is at risk. A person with a BMI of 30 and above is at risk of several serious health issues, such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, some forms of cancer, diabetes and stroke. Obesity is one of the most preventable diseases in the world. When you are obese, it increases your chances of obtaining one of the previous listed illnesses.
Some women will actually base their lifestyle around the BMI Chart and do not consider factors such as genetics. Just because the BMI Chart indicates, you are overweight or obese does not mean that you actually are. The BMI Chart does not take genetics or bone structure into consideration. The best way to tell if you are where you need to be determine your BMI and then consider your build and if you are comfortable in your clothing. A woman's intuition may be the best guide to determine if you are actually at the healthy weight where you need to be.
