How to Get Rid of Itching
An itch is commonly related to an irritation to your skin. This kind of skin infection will lead to uneasiness and eventually it will provoke you to scratch it. It is very irritating that scratching would be the only thing that you want to do to satisfy yourself. Itches can occur with our without skin lesions. They are caused by many things such as allergies, insect bites, adverse reactions to drug, infections (parasites, bacterial, fungal, yeast) and many more.


What causes itching?



  • Friction from items such as clothing or even furniture.

  • Allergies from items such as foods, plants and other environmental items.

  • A chemical reaction from items such as cleaners.


Not only Itching is very irritating, it can cause the infection to spread and it can make the skin more irritated. The very important thing here is to know the source of itching.  While you waiting for that and you want an immediate relief from that itching, these are some tips that you can do.


Scratch Lightly
While it sounds silly, this is the best thing that you can do for a scratch.   The key here is that you don’t want to scratch too hard, because it may hurt afterwards.  Instead, avoid scratching if its something such as a blister, lesion or if it looks like it’s irritating.  If it’s a situation such as this one, it can make matters worse.


Cold applications
Cold things stops itching thus it can also stop spreading the infection. This is because the cool effect and the itch share the same nerve fiber when travelling in our body. With the cold applications, it can somehow confuse the circuit and eventually stop the itch. There are several ways in which you can use cold applications. You can simply put the affected part on running water until you can feel a soothing sensation. Another way is to put icepacks over the surface of the affected part. Also, you can have a cool shower especially if there are many places where you have itching.


Calamine lotion
This kind of lotion is very effective in getting rid of the itching. It may not be the perfect to completely get rid of the cause but it can guarantee you an itch free skin. Calamine lotion is commonly use for insect bites any other types of rashes. It has a very soothing effect on the skin and can also help in reducing inflammation that may be present because of scratching.


Hydrocortisone
This is readily available for use with or without a prescription. For over the counter hydrocortisone, it is usually the low-strength one. You can use this for minor skin irritations, rashes, insect bites, eczema, poison ivy irritations, allergies from using cosmetics and many more. They come from different types such as cream, lotion, gel, ointment, towelette, suppositories and spray. Just use them appropriately. Lastly, make sure that you read the instructions first before use.



Aloe Vera
One of the oldest and best treatments for itching is Aloe Vera. The gel that you get from the Aloe Vera plant is perfect to get rid of the itch. It has this soothing effect that can stop the irritating feeling you have when something is itchy. It is also know to be very effective to fight against bacteria and fungi that can aggravate the irritation. Not only that it can reduce the inflammation, it is also known to nourish and give your skin the protection that it needs.


Consider other home remedies
Other home remedies such as baking soda, talcum powder and ice are all great remedies to try to get rid of an itch.  With each, rub the material on the itch.  Let it sit there for a few minutes until the itch goes away.  If the itch continues to come back, or it becomes irritated, it may be best to consult with a doctor.
