Looking for a natural remedy to cure a chronic cough that you've had for weeks or even months? Well, you've come to the right place. After testing multiple home remedies and natural supplements for a cough that started over 4 months ago, I finally found a lasting cure. If you are willing to make a few temporary changes to your diet and try an inexpensive herbal combination, your chronic cough may soon be history!
After battling a cough that started with a nasty virus last September and trying multiple supplements and home remedies to little or no avail, a friend told me to try an herbal concoction that has consistently cured him of any virus before it takes hold. This remedy was so powerful, my debilitating cough was cured in less than 24 hours.
What cured it? A dropperful (i.e., about 24 drops) of Echinacea and Goldenseal tincture in a small glass of water, taken 2-3 times a day. It was that simple. Not only did it work fast, but the tincture is inexpensive, costing less than $10 for a bottle! Search your local health food store or online for this inexpensive herbal combination. Echinace and Goldenseal combination is available in both tincture and capsule form. I bought mine on Amazon here.
Echinacea is a coneflower in North America and known for its antibiotic and wound-healing properties. In ancient times, echinacea was used to treat blood poisoning, scarlet fever, syphilis, malaria, and diphtheria. Today however, echinacea is used shorten the duration of colds and flu and to help ease the symptoms of a sore throat, cough, and fever. It is one of the most popular herbs available today.
Goldenseal is another powerhouse herb that comes from North America. It's a perennial herb in the buttercup family Ranunculaceae and is native to Eastern United States and Southeastern Canada. Like echinacea, goldenseal root is an herbal antibiotic and immune system enhancer.
Prior to taking the herbal tincture, I also made 3 temporary but important changes to my diet that helped diminish extensive mucous production. These included eliminating sugar, gluten and dairy. As long as I avoided these food items, my cough was manageable. It took less than a day to see improvement after making these dietary changes.
As you will reader below in our feedback section, Apple Cider Vinegar can help chronic coughs. In my case, an apple cider vinegar drink was very helpful in reducing constant coughing fits and excessive mucus production, but it did not cure my cough. I put 1-2 teaspoons of ACV in a mug filled with hot water and sipped it slowly.
Steaming with 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in water was another helpful and simple remedy that helped soothe sore bronchial passages from constant coughing fits.
Please let us know if any of these suggestions helped your cough. If you have a different remedy that worked to cure a chronic cough, please share it with us!
