What Causes Black Eye

  • Eat raw vegetables, fruits and fresh fruit juices as they will enhance early recovery. Avoid junk food, processed food, oily and greasy food etc.

Home Remedies for Black Eye

  • Arnica is very useful in absorbing under skin blood spots due to bruise or blunt injury and also helps in reducing inflammation. Apply arnica tincture on the outer area of the eye for early reduction of black eye. This can be taken in tincture form internally also. Take 8 to 10 drops of arnica tincture in a cup of warm water 3 to 4 times a day, till there is complete recovery.

  • Saline irrigation is very important to regularly clean the eye. This can be prepared by adding 2 level-teaspoon of salt to a liter of water to rinse out the discharge.
  • Take beta-carotene three times a day for 1 week at least. This will provide needed vitamin A.
  • Ice-cold compresses can be laid on the eye during first 2 to 3 day to reduce inflammation. The eye should be closed while doing this. For half an hour, apply a wrung-out wash-cloth to the eye and change it every 2 to 3 minutes. Stop for half an hour and repeat for another 30 minutes.
  • Bloodroot should be grinded and add some water to it. Make it into paste form and apply over the bruised area externally this will help absorption of the clots and help in healing of the black eye.
