Chest Pain When Breathing
A very scary occurrence, whether it be happening at random or after a bout of extreme exercise is chest pain when breathing. It can start out as a simple inability to catch your breath after a run, which then develops into a serious problem, or it could just be a sudden pain whenever you start to breathe. Not all symptoms of chest pain when breathing are indicators of a serious problem, in fact some are quite harmless, however it is important to know the difference so that when you are forced to decide whether or not you need to call for help, you do not fail to do so.
Unfortunately, chest pain when breathing can also be a side effect of back pain, so if you have pulled a muscle in your back, it may hurt when you breathe. Your lungs are also affected by your diaphragm so if you have strained it in any way it may also increase the discomfort that you feel.
One of the first indicators that chest pain when breathing could be serious, is if your breathing is quite difficult and your heart rate is irregular. If you have a very rapid heartbeat, it could be a sign that you are suffering from a cardiac event that could wind up being a heart attack.
Second, when you have chest pain when breathing, it is always a good idea to analyze your stress levels and the strain of the activities that you have just been involved in. If you were running, training for a marathon, you should have an elevated heart rate, and it may be hard to catch your breath at first. If you were just sitting at your death and you suddenly had issues breathing, it is most likely an issue with your lungs or with your heart.
Regardless of whether you are twenty or eighty, chest pain when breathing could be serious and should not be taken lightly if it does not go away quickly, or occurs at a time when you are not in a very physical activity such as running or working out.
