  • Stress tends to weaken the immune response which in turn is responsible for herpes.
  • Recurrent infections, especially urinary tract infections, vaginal infections, etc increase the risk of developing a herpes infection.
  • Sexual transmission is considered to be the primary reason for the condition. Estimates suggest that approximately 50 million Americans suffer from the condition with the prevalence of herpes estimated to be as high as 60% in the sexually active age group.

  • Local application of paste of honey with turmeric is considered beneficial. Both, turmeric and honey have strong anti-microbial properties and help in effective management of the condition.
  • Soaking the vagina in a tub of warm water containing a few drops of tea tree oil is also considered beneficial. Tea tree oil also has strong anti-microbial properties and has protective action against the spread of herpes.
