If you have diabetes then controlling what you eat is very important to your overall health and well-being, as you would potentially be very ill if you eat badly and lose control of your blood sugar. Once you have received a medical diagnosis you will more than likely be given diet plans for diabetics, which will include lots of information to get you started and point you in the right direction. Diet plans for diabetics are about getting the glucose in the body under control and keeping it that way. Diet plans for diabetics will include lots of unrefined carbohydrates, with things like fruit, vegetables, cereals and breads (wholegrain) as these are lower in sugars that many of the refined alternatives and shouldn't cause a problem to your blood sugar level.

You need to take care though. Do not risk making your self so ill that you end up in hospital.

One of the ways that this can be achieved is by eating three small sensible meals a day and having a sensible snack between the meals - sticking to the principle that you need a diet based largely around unrefined carbohydrates and keeping the fat low as this is good health generally. Remember that diet plans for diabetics are dealing with medical conditions, and whilst snacking between meals is not normally advocated in this case it is more vital as the diabetic needs to keep their blood sugar stable.
