Natural Remedies for Jock Itch Skin Infection | Cure Tinea Cruris

What is a Jock Itch?

Jock itch is a condition caused by fungi. This affects the groin area and is one of the conditions that are prevalent in males than in females. Although the name may suggest that the condition affects jocks or athletes only, just like athlete’s foot it is not just limited to this population but also affects any person exposed to the pathogens.

Jock itch is manifested as red patches in the groin area that reddish, brownish, or tan in color. This darker discoloration of the skin is often accompanied by other symptoms, often including flaking, cracking, or peeling of the skin.

There are instances when the condition is caused by Candida albicans. In these cases, the itch could progress towards the penis. Still, the fungus could also progress to the inner thighs. Other pathogens that cause jock itch also cause it to progress towards the inner thighs but not towards the penis.

Jock Itch Home Remedies

While the main remedy for jock itch is to keep the area dry at all times, there are some home remedies that the patient can use to help expedite the healing process.

Some of the herbal treatments that the patient can use include the following:

  • Peel and mash some garlic and add to this some pure honey. Use this mixture on the infected area like an ointment and let this sit for a few minutes. Wash off and dry thoroughly with a towel. If possible, dry off the area with the use of a blow dryer set at a cooler setting.

  • Some of the remedies that are used to treat athlete’s foot can actually be used for jock itch treatment, like apple cider vinegar and water. If the patient can stand the sting of this treatment, simply add a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a cup of water, and mix well. With the use of a clean washcloth dipped in the solution, gently dab the area with this vinegar mixture. Allow to dry. The patient can then wash this off with antibacterial soap and water. Make sure to dry thoroughly.

  • Tea tree oil can also be applied over the infection. To get rid of jock itch and to also tame the redness and the inflammation, aloe vera can also be applied to the rash.
