Pimples can occur in any part of the body. Modern day sedentary life style patterns have resulted in individuals spending prolonged period of their time sitting. This has increased the risk of developing pimples of the buttocks. Excessive sweating and wearing non cotton clothing further increases the risk of developing pimples on the buttocks. Fortunately the condition can be effectively treated using simple home remedies.










What Causes Pimples on the Buttocks?


Life style pattern is strongly associated with occurrence of pimples on the buttocks. However there are a wide range of other factors which are responsible for development of pimples,



  • Weight gain is associated with pimples on the buttocks.


    Weight gain results in irritation of the skin with sweat and rubbing which in turn allows bacteria like Staphylococci to breed within the hair follicles and cause pimples on the buttocks

  • Wearing tight pants can cause irritation to the hair in the buttock region which in turn can result in pimples on the buttocks. On certain occasions the skin may be allergic to certain types of material which may further complicate matters causing acne on the buttocks

  • Ingrown hair on the buttock is another common cause of pimples on the buttocks and is often observed in close association with shaving or waxing

  • Poor hygiene and excessive perspiration in the buttock region can also be associated with pimples.




Pimples on the Buttocks and Thighs


Pimples on the buttocks and the thighs are fairly common. Excessive heat, tight clothing and perspiration are some of the factors that work in combination to cause pimples on the thighs. Often these pimples tend to get infected, which in turn can complicate the matters further.


Infected pimples on the buttocks or thigh can result in tenderness, redness, irritation and itching on the affected portion of the skin. Often, repeated friction can result in bleeding and scarring of the skin which may result in dark spots on the skin. Infected pimples on the buttocks are also a sign of reduced and poor immune levels often associated with chronic diseases like tuberculosis and HIV.


How to Get Rid of Pimples on the Buttocks and Thighs


The pimples in the buttocks and thighs are often very painful and it may be very difficult to resist the temptation of poking or trying to burst the pimple. However it is important that it is completely avoided as it increases the risk of the pimple becoming infected and spreading on the surrounding area. Here are some simple tips to treat pimple on the buttock,



  • Hygiene plays a crucial role. Avoid wearing tight pants. Wear only clean underpants each day.

  • Turmeric is a natural antiseptic and disinfectant. Local application of turmeric may be beneficial especially if the pimple is infected

  • Tea tree oil also has an action similar to turmeric. Tea tree oil is also effective in getting rid of pimples that are not infected.
