Nickel Free Diet

Nickel Free Diet
In today's world, more and more individuals suffer from food and environmental allergies than ever before. Those who have chronic skin conditions especially those who deal with eczema on a regular basis can benefit from such changes as a nickel free diet. There has been a known link between skin sensitivities and consuming foods that are high in nickel. By following a nickel free diet, some people are finding a decrease in skin issues and have found themselves with better, healthier skin overall. If you suffer from skin sensitivities or environmental allergies, you may want to consider a nickel free diet as part of the solution.

You may already know you have a nickel allergy if you find skin irritations showing up from earrings, belt buckles, zippers, eyeglasses and even buttons. Ingesting foods that have high nickel content may produce symptoms of eczema from mild to severe.

Although it is virtually impossible to follow a nickel free diet 100 percent, you can still significantly reduce the amount of nickel that enters your body by avoiding specific types of foods that are known to be high in nickel. If you have any questions about changing your eating habits to include a nickel free diet, be sure to talk to your family physician or local health care provider.

Products such as chocolate, fruits and vegetables that come in cans, oatmeal, almonds, beans and legumes as well as shellfish all contain particularly high levels of nickel and should be avoided if you want to follow a regular nickel free diet.

Other food items that should not be consumed while on a nickel free diet are green vegetables such as asparagus and spinach as well as sprouts, cabbage and peas. Corn, cocoa, herrings and mushrooms are also sources of nickel.

Avoiding tomatoes, baking powder, peanuts, rhubarb and raisins can also help those who want to follow a nickel free diet.

While not all of these food products will help alleviate your health symptoms, one or more can give you some relief from your current medical ailments, so keep an open mind and remember to keep track of the foods you are avoiding to make sure you can figure out which types are affecting your overall health condition.
