Mumps Symptoms | Signs of Mumps Viral Infection

Mumps Signs:
The most commonly seen symptoms of mumps is the swelling of the person’s salivary glands that are located at the bottom of each side of the jaw and beneath the person’s ears. There are other symptoms that can be seen and felt when a person has this ailment and here are some of them:

  • When a person has mumps, he or she may first feel a fever coming on followed by a feeling of tiredness and headaches. A person may also lose his appetite due to this ailment and then the swelling of the salivary glands under the cheeks, under the ears and in the jaw line then begins.

  • Sometimes muscle pains and joint stiffness come with this disease in some people.

  • There are some people who do not display any of these symptoms even when they are already suffering from mumps. These people are probably the more dangerous to come in contact with since you won’t know they have the ailment until you find that you are already infected by it.

  • While mumps is not that serious a disease in kids, it is more dangerous when an adult is infected. Usually complications may arise from such an infection when adults are infected.

An example of a complication this disease brings in adults is orchitis where a teenage boy or a grown man may find that their testicles are swollen as well when they have mumps.
