Ear Piercing Infection Infection can occur in ears if the needle used for piercing is contaminated. Using heavy earrings and rings made of plastic and metals can cause infection. When the infection is not treated for long time, it may affect the surrounding tissue and can cause damage to the ear.

Always hire trained professional for piercing and avoid self piercing. It is better to check the ears daily for infection, swelling and discharge of fluid to assure that the pierced ears are in good condition.
