  • Burning of eyes and red eyes.
  • Cough and wheezing, breathing becomes difficult when exposed to chlorine gas. There is a feeling of tightness in chest.
  • Sneezing and running nose.
  • Skin become dry if it comes in contact with chlorinated water. Itching, redness and peeling of skin are other symptoms of chlorine allergy.
  • Headache, nausea and vomiting are other symptoms of chlorine allergy.

Some of the home remedies for chlorine allergy are:

  • Have a shower prior to swimming and a shower bath after swimming. Use full length swimming suits and goggles to protect the eyes if you want to swim.
  • Drink plenty of water in case of stuffy nose. It will help to liquefy thick mucus in the nose.
  • If you have burning eyes due to chlorine, frequent washing of eyes with plain water is beneficial.
  • Doctors use antihistamine ointment and oral drugs if there is skin rash caused by chlorine allergy.
  • Oatmeal bath is a natural home remedy to treat skin rash caused due to chlorine allergy.
