Ankle nerve pain
Foot and leg injuries are fairly common among people. While walking, running or playing sports they are the most susceptible parts of the body to get the brunt of action. This every day wear and tear eventually takes its toll and creates more serious problems especially in the joint area that is the ankle area. Though, sometimes ankle problems come from injuries and natural aging as well. Sometimes the ankles become swollen or change color due to conditions like pregnancy or injuries and overuse. The ankle pains may burn, sting, and feel numb, hot, cold or tingly. Home remedies work fairly well in most cases to relieve majority of the symptoms.
Ankle nerve pains are usually a little different as they are more severe in nature. The pain comes in short shock like bursts and is quite high in intensity. Normally such ankle pains are associated with athletes because of their extensive usage and risk of injuries. The most common reason behind nerve pain in ankle is incomplete healing of the ankle after a past ankle sprain injury. Recurrent injuries in the same ankle will occur when prematurely, just after healing, previous heavy activities are resumed. Ankle sprains are categorized as the non-bone injury of the ankle. The injury is focused on the ligaments that support the leg when an outward or inward twisting of the foot occurs. The whole process results in pain and repeated injury like this can lead to arthritis as well.
Another condition which causes extreme ankle pain is tendonitis. In this condition the outer tendons (Achilles tendon) or the inner tendons (tibialis tendonitis) that attach leg muscles to the foot bones in the ankle get inflamed. It includes swelling, weakness, pain, and tenderness of the affected ankle. The main cause of tendonitis is overuse (sports activity) or arthritis. When diagnosed with close examination MRI or X-rays it is prescribed by the doctor to be cured by rest, anti-inflammatory drugs and very little or no movement. Basic nerve pain in ankle is due to Neuritis. It is the condition of inflammation or irritation of a nerve in the ankle area out coming in the form of pain along with spoiling of muscle function. Ankle region is rich in the case of nerves as they run in inner and outer segments of the joint. Ankle injuries majorly will trigger neuritis and the injury causes the formation of a scar tissue that will press or trap the nerve in question and thus causing pain. The pain associated with it prevails for long periods as its diagnosis & recovery is quite difficult.
Nerve pain in ankle is associated circulation problems as well. This leads to the condition called peripheral neuropathies. Burning, lack of sensation and numbness in the foot are signs of poor circulation which eventually damage the nerves. It is more common in diabetic people or arterial disease patients. Pinched shooting health benefits of apple cider vinegar nerve pains that travel till the back are major signs of sciatica, originating due to a pinched nerve. If the pinched nerve is located in the ankle and causing pain the condition is called tarsel tunnel syndrome.
