When you have sunburn, there are some foods that you can take that can expedite the healing process of the burned skin. Here are some suggestions for the kind of diet you might want to have when you have sunburn:
- One of the easiest things to do to help you with your sunburn is to drink a lot of fluids that can help keep your skin moisturized and can help you heal faster. Healthy fluids like clear water, fruit juices, and vegetable juices can help you get rid of your sunburn faster.
- Avoid alcohol and other substances that can delay healing.
- There have been recent findings that prove that beta-carotene as well as lycopene help with the healing of burns and this includes sunburns. Some of the sources of beta-carotene include carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, and other yellow fruits and vegetables. Dark green vegetables also have an abundance of beta-carotene in them and included in this list are spinach, broccoli, lettuce, and green leafy vegetables like cabbage. Lycopene can be found in tomato juice, tomato paste and tomato sauce.
- Avoid spicy foods and foods that have aromatics in them to speed up the healing of your burns.
