How to Get Rid of Love Handles For Men

Love handles are a common problem area for men when toning up and losing weight. The love handle is a nickname for the area on the sides just below the natural waist line, and above the hips. Unfortunately to get good results there is no quick fix. Experts agree that you cannot simply target just one area, but with a great cardiovascular workout in addition to targeting the area one is sure to see results. The following are some of the best ways to reduce the dreaded love handles.

Lower Back and Abdominal ExerciseMany men will just work their abs and nothing else. While they will see effects, it is still crucial to strengthen the back as well. This way, the body has a balance to it. Some exercises that strengthen the lower back and abs together are:

Scissor Kicks - lay on the right or left side and move the legs back and forth in a scissor motion. Leg lifts - lay on the back and slightly raise both legs about an inch off the ground. This is the start position. Raise legs to a 45 degree angle and then lower to the start position. Dumbell Side Bends - hold the weight of choice, one dumbell in each hand. Keeping good posture bend to one side, lowering the weight in that hand.

Drink Plenty of WaterDrink at least 8, 8 ounce glasses of water a day. Water helps the body turn stored fat into metabolism and also suppresses appetite. It also ironically helps reduce any water retention in the body. Try carrying around a refillable water bottle that has a straw. Many find it easier to drink more water with a straw.

Cardiovascular ExerciseLove handles are fat, and to lose fat cardio is the best type of exercise one can do. If the calories aren't burned they end up being stored as fat. There are plenty of types of cardio to choose from, sports, spinning classes, running and anything that gets the heart rate up for at least twenty to fifty minutes a day is sufficient.

LiposuctionPlastic surgery is a last resort. If all other methods have been tried and those love handles still persist, this may be an alternative. Most doctors will only approve liposuction if the patient is not severely overweight.
