Measles Disease Symptoms:
What are the symptoms that can tell you that a person has measles? How can you distinguish rubeola-infected individuals from rubella-infected ones? While both types of measles may carry similar symptoms like red rashes and fever and have similar incubation periods, they exhibit different symptoms. Here are some of them:

• Rubeola or hard measles often begins with a stage where a person gets a fever, has a feeling of weakness and lethargy, conjunctivitis, a cough, a runny nose, and a decrease in their appetite. After this initial list of symptoms, the person then breaks out in a rash after two to four days.
  
  
  


• The rubella virus that causes German measles also has symptoms similar to rubeola, but incubation and emergence of the rashes takes longer, around ten days to two weeks. Symptoms like red eyes, fatigue, and a low fever also surfaces before these rashes appear.


• When a person has rubeola, he may see really red bumps or rashes appear on his skin. This does not itch but may result in shedding of skin once the ailment has passed. The same goes for rubella but with a slight difference. The spots that appear are more pinkish than red.
  
  
  


• When a person has rubeola, there is a possibility that he or she may develop pneumonia as a complication of the ailment. People who get rubella on the other hand suffer from swollen lymph nodes that may remain swollen a few weeks even after the ailment has passed.
