Lice Prevention Measures:
When trying to prevent lice from happening, all you need to do is to stop its spread or to stop it from recurring. Here are some tips for doing just that:
- Do not sleep beside a person who is known to have head lice or share a pillow with them. If someone in your family is infected with head lice due to recent close contact with someone outside your home who has these parasites, prevent its spread by treating it immediately with any of the remedies mentioned above. You can also prevent these parasites from infesting everyone else in your house by washing the person’s towel, caps, beddings, and pillowcase with the use of hot water and strong detergent.
- Prevent pubic lice or crabs from infecting you by practicing safe sex. If you are not sure whether your partner has crabs or pubic lice, try to abstain when you can.
- Keep your head, scalp, and hair clean to avoid head lice from wanting to move and stay in your head. Bathe every day and shampoo and condition every day as well. Try to comb your hair through with a fine-toothed comb when you feel an itch or suspect that you might have head lice. Have someone check your scalp as well to make sure.
