Complete and Differential Blood Cell Count

Complete and Differential Blood Cell Count Complete Blood Cell Count (CBC) and Differential Count (diff) are a series of blood tests of the peripheral blood. These tests provide a tremendous amount of information about the hematologic system and many other organ systems. Since both CPC and Differential Count are inexpensively and easily performed, they are both rapidly performed as a screening test. The CBC and diff include automated multimeasurement of the following studies:

A list of CBC and Differential Blood Tests

  • Red Blood Cell Count.

  • Hemoglobin Test.

  • Hematocrit Test.

  • Red Blood Cell Indices: Includes calculation and measurement of Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH),        Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC), and Red Blood Cell Distribution Width (RDW).

  • White Blood Cell Count (WBC) and Differential Count.

  • Absolute and Differential Neutrophil Count (polynucleated cells or “polys,” segmented cells or “segs,” band cells, stab cells).

  • Absolute and Differential Lymphocyte Count.

  • Differential Monocyte Count.

  • Absolute and Differential Eosinophil Count.

  • Absolute and Differential  Basophil Count.

  • Blood Smear.

  • Platelet count.

  • Mean Platelet Volume (MPV).
