How To Get Rid Of Taste In Mouth During Pregnancy
During pregnancy, expectant women can experience a lot of hormonal and physical changes. While there are pregnancy symptoms that most pregnant women suffer from, there are some minor ones that occur only to some of them. One of the minor things that pregnant women might experience is having a metallic taste it mouth. For some reason, pregnancy can cause a woman to have a different kind of taste reception. She can also experience having an unwanted taste in mouth that is usually bitter and sour.


There are many factors that can make a person suffer from this abnormal taste reception or also known as Dysguesia. This metallic taste in a pregnant women’s mouth is not really a very serious condition and it might just be caused by the hormonal imbalance. Nevertheless, this unwanted taste in mouth can make a pregnant woman experience discomfort especially when eating as she will most likely not be able to appreciate the flavorful food that has been served to her. If you are one of those women who are basking with the glow of pregnancy, but have this metallic taste in mouth, here are some things you can do to get rid of taste in mouth during pregnancy.


Use baking soda and salt
The combination of baking soda and salt can help neutralize the acidic taste in your mouth. So after you have consumed a meal and you are left with a metallic after taste, or basically whenever your mouth taste unpleasant, you can just brush your teeth with toothpaste, baking soda and salt. You can also create a solution out of a teaspoon of salt, a little pinch of baking soda and water. Mix these altogether and gargle it a few times until the metallic taste in your mouth goes away.


Foods with vinegar
You might be wondering how vinegar can help relieve the metallic taste in your since vinegar itself is acidic. Well, vinegar makes your salivary glands produce more saliva which can cleanse the bad taste that is lingering on your mouth. So eat foods with vinegar or side dishes that have been marinated with vinegar like pickled turnip.



Eat citrus fruit
Like vinegar, citrus fruits like orange and lemon also stimulate your salivary glands. When this happens, the secretion of saliva will be increase and it will wash away the taste in your mouth. Whenever you are having a bad taste in your mouth, just get lemon or orange and eat it as a snack. Not only are citrus fruits helpful in removing the unwanted taste in your mouth, but it also gives you extra vitamins and minerals.


Rub garlic on your tongue
If the metallic taste in your mouth is overpowering your taste buds, you can get a clove of garlic and rub it on your tongue. The powerful taste of garlic will bring back your taste buds to work, plus it will also kill any bacteria that might be causing the metallic taste in your mouth.


Drink lots of water
Water simply flushes out dirt and toxins that might be interfering with your mouth. Drinking lots of water everyday can help remove the bad taste in your mouth.


Ask for the doctor’s help
If the metallic taste in your mouth does not go away even after several home remedies, you can ask for the doctor’s help to get rid of the taste in your mouth.
