4 Muscle Groups Worked in Diamond Pushups
Diamond pushups are modified versions of the standard push up that give focus on the synergistic muscles. You may not see big difference but the body alignment as well as the positioning is very different in diamond pushups from the diamond pushups. Muscles that Diamond Pushups Work
Performing diamond pushups in the beginning is not an easy task. Diamond pushups are harder than the standard pushups. If you are just starting, it is best that you perform first the easier version of diamond pushups. Easier version is doing the diamond pushup on your knees to make it less challenging. When you are now comfortable with the easier version, you may now start to work with full version of diamond pushups.

Muscles that Diamond Pushups Work
- Pectorals: Pectoral muscles or also referred as the chest are the most common muscles that are worked by diamond pushups. Chest is the largest muscle group that performs the pushing moves in the upper portion of the body.
- Deltoid: When doing the diamond pushups, the body may appear in the same position when you do the standard pushups but you may not observe that your buttocks are slightly more elevated than the shoulders. This position is focusing more on the deltoids than the chest area. The main focus of this exercise is to flex the muscles located in the elbow and to make the forehead reach the hands.
- Triceps: As you start your diamond pushups, remember to place your hands below the chest. In flexing the elbows, the upper body may be lowered to the point where the chest touches the hands. In performing this exercise, the main focus is on the triceps.
- Abdominal Core: Performing the standard pushups is maintaining the stability of the abdominal core. It is also the focus of the diamond pushups, to build and strengthen the abdominal core.
