5 Causes of Pressure on Bladder
is often called abdominal pressure. A person with pressure on bladder may have pelvic pain, abdominal pain and pain while health urinating. Several causes may cause pressure on bladder.


Causes of Pressure on Bladder

  • Cystitis: This is the most common cause of pressure on bladder. This is characterize with bladder inflammation, discomfort in the pelvic region and the strong urge to urinate. This condition is often caused by bacterial infection that is why it is also referred as urinary tract infection. If not treated, it may spread to kidneys. Other possible causes of cystitis are certain medications, feminine hygiene sprays and long term use of catheter. Oral medications and avoiding the product that had caused the cystitis is part of the treatment.

  • Uterine fibroid: Uterine fibroid may also cause pressure and discomfort in the pressure. Uterine fibroids are characterized as tumors that develop in the uterus lining. The uterus is near the bladder and the growths may put pressure on the bladder thus resulting to pain while urinating. Uterine fibroids may be treated with hormone therapy and surgical removal.

  • Prostatitis: This condition may cause abnormal pressure in men. This is defined as the inflammation of the prostate gland. It may get inflamed due to bacterial infection but for some, the cause of the inflammation is unclear. Antibiotics are prescribed to treat the condition.

  • Ovarian Cancer: Ovarian cancer may occur when the cells in the ovaries had mutated and grows abnormally. It may out put pressure on the bladder and may bring discomfort. Other symptoms of ovarian cancer are heightened feeling to urinate and feeling full. Changes in menstrual cycle as well as pelvic pain after sex are observed in women.

  • Other Possible Causes: Other less problems of pressure on the bladder are endometriosis and bladder diverticulum. Endometriosis is a condition where the cells in the uterus start to grow elsewhere. Bladder diverticulum is a bulging pouch that may grow abnormally and cause too much pressure on the bladder.
